Go Back

Location: San Luis Río Colorado, Mexico
This mission was carried out in partnership with ANC Onnuri Church, Sarang Church of Southern California, and local churches in San Luis, Mexico.

If you follow the Colorado River down from the U.S. on the map, you’ll see that it flows all the way into Mexico. Our mission site is located where that river meets the Mexican border. On the U.S. map, you’ll find the city of Yuma in Arizona (the first city near the border). From Yuma, it takes about 30 minutes to reach the Mexican border, and just across it lies San Luis, our mission field.

Though our time was short, we give all glory to God for using our team as His hands to bring healing and light to those suffering physically and spiritually in darkness.

A Healing Miracle

At our mission site in San Luis, Mexico, we were scheduled to sing at the Kingdom of God Festival in a large theater the next day. However, our deacon, a vocalist, injured her back and was unable to move, believing she wouldn’t be able to sing. After receiving two days of acupuncture and moxibustion treatment, she made a full recovery. With a heart full of gratitude, she offered a special song that evening before all our team members. We pray that God’s Kingdom would come upon this place. All glory be to God.

Day 1

On the first day, we visited a landfill community in San Luis. Inside the landfill, more than 200 people live in makeshift homes made of old tents and wooden boards. They endure extreme heat over 110°F (43°C) without electricity, air conditioning, fans, or refrigerators. Most residents live under harsh conditions, struggling with poverty, drug addiction, and alcoholism. On that first day, we walked through the landfill village and prayed earnestly over the land.

Day 2

The next day, we served through various ministries including acupuncture and moxibustion medical missions, haircut ministry, bulgogi taco ministry, worship ministry, eyeglass ministry, Western medicine clinic, balloon ministry, and children’s ministry. Everyone served with great passion and love.

In the acupuncture mission, a young woman shared her hardships. She lives as the head of her household, raising four children without a father. She is also battling cervical cancer, living in fear and anxiety. While treating her, our team gathered around, prayed fervently for her healing, and offered comfort.

Another woman in her 30s came suffering from a severe skin disease she has had since childhood. Her body constantly feels hot, her skin peels like a snake, and she suffers from intense itching, pain, and oozing wounds. Her feet hurt so much that life has become unbearable, and she confessed that she had often thought about ending her life. Her young daughter has inherited the same condition, filling her with deep worry and fear. Our team earnestly prayed for both the mother and daughter.

Among the children, a brother and sister came for treatment due to insomnia. Many patients also came with cancer. Since most of the locals had never experienced acupuncture or moxibustion before, they were afraid at first. To reassure them, I demonstrated the treatment on myself, showing that it was safe, and explained during the local worship service that no matter what pain or situation you face, God is able to heal you.

After that, people of all ages came in large numbers for treatment. A 13-year-old child who was blind in both eyes, unable to walk or speak due to polio, came for care. We learned that when he was three years old, his father had thrown him, causing these lifelong injuries. After the treatment, our whole team gathered and prayed earnestly for his healing and for God to restore his life.

Day 3

The following day, even more patients came for acupuncture and moxibustion. Those who had been afraid before were now bringing others after experiencing healing themselves. Many were amazed and grateful for the miraculous effects of the treatment.
